Tim Smith

Prescience’s Managing Director Tim Smith has worked in the marketing, financing and production of filmed entertainment since the earliest days of video at companies as varied as Twentieth Century Fox and Random Harvest.

For well over a decade Tim owned and ran Foresight, one of the most successful entertainment agencies in Europe during the 1990s.

At Foresight he oversaw the European campaigns for such household-name films as Aladdin, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Santa Clause, Pocahontas, Toy Story, 101 Dalmations, Hercules, Mulan and A Bug’s Life. After selling Foresight to South Africa’s Primedia group in the early 2000s, Tim worked as an independent producer and with Random Harvest before establishing Prescience in 2005.

Peter Nichols

Peter is a taxation professional whose career has spanned 38 years, during which he worked with HM Revenue & Customs, KPMG and Rawlinson & Hunter. Peter is the founding and senior partner of the Chancery Group of businesses, which initially formed in 1997. The Chancery Group comprise a specialist taxation division whose primary aim is wealth creation through tax mitigation, together with chartered accountancy, financial planning, film and media, property and publishing businesses.

Peter’s expertise ranges across all taxes, incorporating personal, corporate, inheritance tax, investments, trusts, offshore structuring, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Peter also has expertise in areas such as structured investments in film, media, property, private equity and alternative investments.

Steve Burnett

Steve joined Jersey Trust Company (“JTC”) in 1997 managing the client accounting department before becoming Finance Director to the JTC Group in 2002 after initially training as an accountant at BDO. In addition to overseeing the group finance function, Steve established the Risk and Compliance Department to deal with all customer due diligence and regulatory work as well as providing a framework to define the risk parameters for group operations. More recently he has been heading up and concentrating on developing the Funds Division and sits as a non executive director on a number of boards for both private and listed funds including a number of film related structures.

Nigel Le Quesne

Nigel is the Group Managing Director of the Jersey Trust Company Group of companies (“JTC Group”) having joined in 1991 from Price Waterhouse. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and the Chartered Management Institute. He is the Group Chief Executive and provides strategic direction to JTC Group and also sits on the board of both private and publicly quoted companies in addition to associated committees such as audit, remuneration and nomination.

Philip Burgin

Philip is a Group Director of Jersey Trust Company having joined the organisation in 1995, previously working for Morgan Stanley in London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and has worked in both the private client and corporate teams gaining a breadth of knowledge across both disciplines. Currently, Philip heads up the JTC Corporate Division and holds a number of non-executive directorships of private and public companies, both quoted and unquoted. Philip played an important role in setting up the JTC Film Finance department and is one of the principal liaisons with film and media clients and intermediaries. Philip speaks regularly at conferences, most recently at a Jersey Finance sponsored seminar on Film Finance in Jersey.
